The Banks of the Vermillion River

“We’re utilizing the natural landscape of the Vermilion River,” says Lighting Designer and Instructor of Scenic Design at UL, Melissa Gilbert. “It’s poignant because this is the same land that was under water when the river crested at 17.6 feet during the floods of August 2016. The piece blurs the lines between river and land, as audience members are transported through home, loss, and the question of ‘what next?’”
